Visitors are to note the following:
This is a ticketed event. Visitors will not be allowed entry unless able to show a valid ticket. No cash ticket sales shall be available on the day.
Tickets can only be bought online as the depot does not handle cash, credit card, or cheques.
Surfaces maybe dirty and uneven and our site is quite large. We strongly recommend wearing appropriate stout footwear. Footwear such as high-heels and sandals are strongly discouraged.
Bags and persons may be searched on entry.
Items in the banned list may refuse you entry or items will be quarantined or disposed of.
There is one designated smoking area, halfway down the HMF Road outside the Wheel Lathe building in a marked and signposted area.

All types of traction and rolling stock carry dirt, oil and grease.

Children under 16 shall not be allowed entry unless accompanied by an adult.
Children aged 3 and under have free entry and do not require a ticket.
Baby changing tables should be available in three portable disabled toilets and disabled toilets on at least two trains.
There will be no cash machines on site. Some merchandise and railwayana stall holders may accept credit card, but many including food may not. Fairground/entertainment may require additional fees so please bring appropriate cash.

Any other item that is deemed to be too dangerous or a risk to security
We shall not tolerate abuse of staff, volunteers, or other visitors, and will not tolerate any form of vandalism. Visitors may be escorted offsite and/or prevented from entering the site if your presence harms others.
This is also applicable to unauthorised persons caught walking outside clearly defined fenced areas. Moving trains can kill and your presence could cause an operational incident.
CCTV cameras are plentiful around the site to assist yours and everyone's safety.
Please note that this is a working maintenance depot. Although we shall try to make the event as safe and accessible for as far as reasonably practicable, the site is very large and some areas around exhibits will be railway track consisting of rails, railway sleepers and ballast, and to board certain exhibits may include steps, so may not be suitable for all.
The VIP tours may at times walk on uneven surfaces and also visit areas that are not suitable for wheelchairs and buggys etc.
Alcohol & Drugs
No alcohol is allowed onsite. Anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs shall not be allowed entry and/or asked to leave.
Many amateur photographers like taking photos of locos without people in the photo. Please take consideration when walking or standing around the front of a loco/train that you aren't directly in their shot just as they're about to snap that all important photo.
Photographers are asked to be patient and polite. Much of the general public may not be familiar with depot open days and maybe in amazement of looking around the exhibits.
Smile for the media
It is planned that there will be filming by media on the day. It is possible you may brielfy feature in the background.
